About Us

The Pines Pet Cemetery was established in 1966, it's a 35-acre park located in scenic Warren County. The grounds are legally restricted to be preserved as a pet cemetery in perpetuity. An endowment has been set aside in an irrevocable trust. Provisions have been made to ensure that the trust adequately provides for all real estate taxes, general maintenance, and prservation of the park now and in the future.

The Pines understands that each family has a unique relationship with its pet. You are proveded the opportunity to make arrangements according to your preferences and financial considerations. We recommend making arrangements in advanced whenever possible. During office hours, our staff is available to answer our questions and to make arrangements. Emergencies are handled as efficiently and promptly as permitted by the circumstances of the loss.

Special services, such as calling for the deceased pet at home or at the veterinarian office, are available. A simple, private farewell ceremony is an option that many families find comforting.

Planning Ahead

Thinking about the time when our pets must leave us is very difficult. A special program is available for those wishing to plan during a period of calm, not crisis. Pre-Need Planning allows you to enjoy the last years with your pet knowing that the difficult decisions about final care have been made and will not have to be faced during a time of grief.

Why Pre-Need Planning?

Unlike people, pets cannot make final arrangements for themselves. Their final resting place depends entirely upon their owner's wishes to provide dignity and memorialization in return for the years of unquestioned love and devotion.

Because pet owners do not want to think of their pet's inevitable death, decisions about final arranagements are often put off until later. Then, when the sad day comes, they are faced with many questions in the midst of stressful emotions. Often times they will turn the matter over to someone else to "take care of it". We have talked to many people who, after recovering from their grief, are extremely upset to discover that there are no magical burial grounds for pets. They do not know what has become of their little friend, or are fearful to ask. Perhaps in their moment of grief, a hasty decision was made and later could not be changed.

We mention this fact simply because we want you to know that all of these decisions can be made in a perios of calm--not crisis.

Pre-Need Planning for Pets is a service offered by the Pines Pet Cemetery for those who recognize the wisdom of pre-planning

How can I Plan Ahead?

The pet's family makes an appointment to visit the cemetery. They may inspect the grounds, review selections available, and discuss cemetery policies and prices.

A burial plot will be selected, along with other desired amenities. Pet owners may choose exactly the services they wish for their pets, keeping in mind their budget and personal preferences. Payment in full is expected before the interment is made. Burial costs will vary depending upon your selections. They can be very modest or as elaborate as you wish.

Later when the pet must leave you, a simple phone call is all that is needed. A member of our staff will take over, and a burial time will be scheduled. You may chose whether or not you want to be present for a final good-bye.

A licensed crematory is also located on the cemetery grounds and a large selected of urns is available for those who prefer cremation.

Your final act of love and respect is a true "thank you" for the years of love and devotion that your pet has given you. You will rest, assured that your special pet has been cared for in exactly the manner that you chose at a time when you were calm and thinking clearly.

From time to time a family does not desire to make definite arrangements in advance. In these situations we advise the family to make themselves familiar, in advance, with all the options that will be available at the time of need. We welcome inquiries, and can provide you with a listing of available options in Ohio. You are welcome to visit The Pines anytime.

"Occasionally a family is unable to visit the cemtery for arrangements, and exceptions may be made for telephone arrangements."

Other amenities include caskets, vaults, urns, and permanent memorials. Every effor is made to provide quality goods and services. We assure you that your pet's remains will be cared for with dignity by a dedicated staff of pet lovers who understands your special bond with your pet.

During the past decade or so, cremation has become more widely accepted and understood. The Pines crematory is located on the cemetery property. Each cremation is performed by trained personnel. Special care is taken to ensure that each pet receives the individual care specified by the pet's family.

Options for final disposition of the cremains include placement in an urn, ground burial at the Pines or your home, scattering in the Chapel Gardens at the Pines or some other place of importance to you and your pet, or internment in the columbarium. The Pines features a Carillon Bell Tower with a columbarium at it base. The granite walls contain aboveground niches for cremains. The niches vary in size to accommodate one pet or several. A special area is set aside for cats only. A bronze nameplate is placed on the granite shutter to identify the niche. The Carillon provides a very peaceful setting for you and your family to pause and reflect on happy memories.

This website has been prepared to provide pet owners with information about pet cremation and to serve as a guide if the need should arise.

We believe that the subject of the cremation of a pet can and should be fully explained. For some reason, cremation has long been surrounded by an air of mystery, yet there is nothing at all mysterious about it.

These days, cremation is endorsed by many of our foremost thinkers and has the support and approval of an ever increasing number of people of all faiths and in all walks life.

Cremation is simply the hastening of natural processes by a clean, sanitary and entirely modern method, which is quickly effected by a clean, intense, flame that returns the body to its original elements. All that remain are the calcified bone fragments, and are called "cremains".

Deceased pets are brought to The Pines Pet Cemetery by their owners, or may be called for at home or veterinarian offices. All pets are properly identified and held in a refrigerated holding vault until the appointed day of creamtion. A special crematory is located on the cemetery grounds, and all cremations are performed by properly trained personnel. When cremation is completed, each pets cremains are carefully gathered and placed into labeled containers.

One of the reasons that cremation has grown in popularity is that many options exist for the disposition of the cremated remains. Some suggestions are as follows:

Inurnment: There is wide variety of urns available from a simple, modestly priced container to deluxe, engraved bronze urn. The urn may be kept at home along with the pet's other mementos or can be formally interred.

Burial: Special boxes that are carefully sealed are available for burial either at home or at the cemetery.

Scattering: Cremains can be scattered in a place that was special for teh pet or the familiy. Scattering is also available at the pet cemetery.

Columbarium: This is a wall designed to place cremated remains above ground. A name plate is placed in front of the niche on a granite wall. The Pine Carillon contains niches for this purpose.

Bell Tower

The Carillon Bell Tower, which was custom designed for The Pines, features a limited number of burial spaces in its terraced lawn crypt section. Flush ground-level markers in granite or bronze provide a serene and peaceful setting beneath the tower itself. Melodious bell music plays at intervals on weekends, during burials, and upon request.
